DeployPad
DeployPad is our own deploy panel. It takes a code repository to a live address in minutes, on a server we control, without handing the site to a hosting platform. We built it to deploy our own sites and the client sites we host, and other developers can run it on their own servers. This page shows what it does and what it is built from.
How we built it
A deploy should be one step on a server you own. When it is, hosting is a choice rather than a dependency.
Why we built it
We wanted every site we build to go live on a server we control, with no hosting platform in between and nothing to be locked into. It was for us first: our own sites and the client sites we host. Why an existing deploy tool would not do is not yet on our record.
What we built
- A panel that takes a repository to a live address in minutes.
- A setup script that gives a new project everything it needs in one go: its own folder, its own port, its own database, its web-server settings and a place in the panel's list.
- Licences for developers who want to run it on their own servers, sold on this site and sent out by email.
What it did
It deploys this website, and it set up the Arabian Luxury site on our server. It is live and stable.
The parts
A small server application on our own server, with a web panel in front and the setup script behind it. Licences are bought on this site and arrive by email with the key. And one design choice: it runs on the server it deploys to, so there is no outside platform between a push and a live site.
